Advocacy Unlimited is a nonprofit organization
offering comprehensive recovery and advocacy education for persons with or in
recovery from mental illness and/or addiction issues. Its mission is to improve the quality of life
for these individuals by helping them maintain and sustain their recoveries,
reintegrate into the community, and reenter the workforce. We offer
our long-standing Advocacy Education Course taught in both English and Spanish;
the Young Adult “Super Advocate” program for young adults age 18 to 25 with
mental illness and/or addiction issues to learn how to recover or further their
recovery, sustain their recovery, and become young peer support specialists who
then help and provide hope to other young adults with mental and/or addiction
issues; and Recovery University, the only state sanctioned Recovery Support
Specialist certification program in Connecticut. Please visit our website (www.mindlink.org ) for complete information
about our outstanding programs and the amazing people that attend them.
AU
is proud to be an official charity of the ING Hartford Marathon again this year
as part of AU's
4th Annual Fundraiser. We need your
help and there are two ways you can help:
1. Volunteers are needed:
AU has been asked to help with Late Athlete
Registration/Packet Pickup on Friday, October 12th from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm at
the Health & Fitness Expo in the XL Center in Hartford. Anyone interested in volunteering their time
on Friday for Advocacy Unlimited is
asked to please send an email to Linda Lentini at LLentini@mindlink.org
as soon as possible. Your volunteering
is sincerely appreciated.
2. AU's 4th Annual Fundraiser:
As an official charity of the ING Hartford
Marathon, you can donate safely and securely by credit card. Visit http://www.crowdrise.com/AdvocacyUnlimitedHartford
and click on the “DONATE” button. Every
donation, no matter how small or how large, will help enable AU to continue its
mission of helping persons in recovery from psychiatric disabilities or addiction
issues. 100% of your donation is tax deductible and is sincerely appreciated. Please pass this information along to
others you think would be interested in supporting AU.
