NEW HAVEN SEEKING ARTISTS AND VOLUNTEERS FOR THE CITY’S 375TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
(3/11/2013) (New Haven, CT) The City of New Haven’s Department of Art, Culture and Tourism is looking for artists and event volunteers for its 375th Anniversary Celebration, which will take place on Saturday, April 27th from 1 to 4 pm on the New Haven Green.
“We are looking for singers, dancers and other performers for this historic celebration and we want artists of all ethnicities, cultures and neighborhoods to participate,” said Vivian Nabeta, the Director of the City’s Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism.
Nabeta added that as long as performances are family-friendly almost anything goes. “We’d love to hear about any creative ideas artists may have for performances or activities that are participatory and will engage and involve the audience.”
Artists should be available between 1 pm and 4 pm on April 27th (though artists do not have to stay for the entire time) and performances should be no longer than 10 minutes. Finally, artists must have their own means of transportation.
The City is also looking for volunteers to help run New Haven’s 375th Celebration on Saturday, April 27th between 12 noon and 5pm. Volunteer shifts will be flexible, but it is desired that people volunteer for at least a two hour shift.
Volunteers are needed for the following activities:
• Event set-up
• Event break-down
• Performer check-ins and coordination
• Art activity assistance
• Tour guide assistance and other general event duties.
Both individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate.
